Hi Kasim.
I just saw your film on tv in Ireland and I found it profoundly moving.. you have done a wonderful thing in showing us how an Iraqi family is the same as every other family around the world - how we are really all the same.  When the US leaves, maybe there will be a chance for your country to pick itself up and look to the future. Best wishes to your family and I hope the girls will get an opportunity to have a career in rebuilding your country which is, after all, the cradle of civilisation.

Wonderful and touching film that should be seen by anyone trying to understand the real catastophe that resulted from the invasion of Iraq and how a total ignorant and miscalculated occupation has resulted in the death and suffering of innocent Iraqi civilians. Thank you.

We who complain about our lot in life watch your film and realise how lucky we are. We wish you well by the grace of ‘God’, you are not alone.

Great film. True, honest and unlike many films produced by editors sitting behind their desks in London, this film is real, moving and tells a lot about Iraq.  Great film, will be part of our history.

Dear friend Kasim, I should congratulate you for such a wonderful movie, it made me cry a lot, share and care a lot, and that is Great Cinema par excellence. Your famiy has become part of my being now, I love them so much that I wonder, where are they now and what have become of them. In spite of the tragedy of the people in your film, it filled me the joy of touching their deep human hearts, secrets and aspirations that I’ve become one of them. It is in fact the story of the Human Family in time of war, injustice, death and pain, that is why we come completely washed and purified (Catharsis) out of your noble and generous film that brought us nearer to our humanity. Your film honors the art of filmmaking in our Arab Cinema.

“Life After the Fall” gives the audience a complete perspective of what it is like for a family to live in Iraq during these tumultuous times. I would agree that the Western media has portrayed Iraqi civilians as foreign victims of oppression. They do not give a personal look at how the citizens are surviving or feeling.  This film gives that perspective, and delivers a powerful message.

Hi M. Abid! Me and my friend saw your movie tonight at the first north-american broadcast in Montreal. I just wanted to tell you it is an amazing look at Irak, our vision of Bagdad and its inhabitants precised itself. We determined that only an Iraki could have shooted something that real about the life in this country. Even if it was a little bit long, the vision was revealing and we got interested in the destiny of your brothers and nieces.  Congratulations! Another question: which kind of camera did you use for the shooting? We are interested in shooting documentaries and are curious about the material you used. Thanks in advance for your time and good luck to your family with everything! What a great movie you made smile

Mabrouk for your film Life After the Fall. I just had a chance to see it
last night. It is very powerful and moving. I was touched by your personal portrayal of life from inside Iraq as seen through the eyes of your family. It is sad because it is so real but yet so full of dignity and humanity. It is a film you had to make. I am glad you did.

I only watched your film two days ago as I did not have the chance to do it before then. I was moved and saddened by it a great deal. Sometimes it is difficult to digest just how badly things have turned out for our region. I have been thinking about it a lot ever since. I hope that it will get a wide audience. It deserves it. Your family is so sweet and your brother’s story was really heart breaking. Him playing the piano in such a nice and special way at the end was very moving. It is great that you have managed to make this film.

...sorry for taking such a long time to send you a message. I saw Life After the Fall last Saturday and since then I reviewed it three times. I still can’t find the right words to describe how it made such a deep and profound impact on me. Every time I see it is a different movie because everytime I see it I feel like being born again. I know this explanation may sound not naive. But that´s exactly how I feel. My coprehension is widening and this “reality” has reached me in a way it never did before.Thank you for introducing me to your family, to your country, to your journey, to your palm tree, to your conflicts. Throughout your images I was introduced to this “world” which I feel I belong to: a world of conflicts, but, still, a world of hope. That’s also my inner coprehension of what resistance should be.
